Leonard Vohs

Mass of Christian Burial for Leonard J. Vohs, age 81 of Stockton will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton with Father Galen Long as Celebrant. Mr. Vohs passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville. He was born December 29, 1929 in Plainville, Kansas the son of Herman J. and Anna (Griebel) Vohs. Leonard attended the West Plainville School and later the Sacred Heart School in Plainville. On May 5, 1960 he married Toya Slansky in Stockton. Leonard was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton and the Knights of Columbus. He was a farmer, cattleman, and hog farmer all of his life in Rooks & Osborne Counties. Leonard also enjoyed car racing, gardening, and cutting firewood. Survivors include his daughters Brenda and husband Roger Axelson of Plainville, Kansas, Noelle Vohs of Brownell, Kansas; brothers Bernard Vohs of Smith Center, Kansas, Raymond and wife Lois Rae Vohs of Olathe, Kansas, Ralph and wife Mary Vohs of Lyons, Kansas, Duane and wife Gerri Vohs of Denver, Colorado; sisters Elizabeth & husband Larry Lala of Woodston, Kansas, Geraldine and husband Roy Orr of Gaylord, Kansas; grandchildren Kaci & Trevor Axelson of Plainville, Kansas; and sister-in-law Florence Vohs of Plainville, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his son Dennis on May 12, 1974; daughter Regina Vohs on September 20, 1979; brother Donald Vohs, and his parents. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Osborne. Visitation will be from 9 – 8 Wednesday with a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening all at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leonard J.
