LaDonna Rae Schnuerle, of Stockton, Kansas passed away on March 20, 2023, at the RooksCounty Hospital at the age of 89. She was born on September 13, 1933, to Ray and Gertrude (Wildrex) Ives in Stockton, Kansas. She married Wayne Schnuerle on October 31, 1953, in Stockton. They made their home in Almena and were blessed with two children: Sam and Jayne. Wayne preceded her in death on January 16, 1985.
LaDonna graduated from Stockton High School in 1951. She was a farm wife, mom, and Librarian in the Northern Valley School District for many years. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, reading, playing Pitch and volunteering. She belonged to several organizations while in Almena: The Farmingdale Club, Neighborly Neighbors and Coterie Club. She and Wayne were monthly card players with the Supper Club group of friends. After Wayne passed, she took over his position as Treasurer of The Almena Irrigation District for several years. Later, after moving to Stockton, she was a daycare provider and then worked at the Stockton Public Library. She enjoyed reading and shaping young minds with books and helping the Librarians with the Parade of Christmas Trees. She was a faithful member of the local TOPS Chapter and was so proud when she reached her goal and became a KOPS and even State Queen. She also belonged to the Century Club and enjoyed suppers out and meeting new friends.
LaDonna is survived by her son, Sam (Kristi) Schnuerle of Almena, KS and daughter, Jayne (Jim) Prockish of Stockton, KS; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren: Chandler (Kristin) Schnuerle, Kanon & Audrey, Almena, KS, Landon Schnuerle (Laura Arp), Wolbach, NE, Jamie (Jeff) Dohm, Jonah, Jensen and Jaryn, Salina, KS, Jake Prockish, Stockton, KS, Katelyn Schnuerle (Shawn Harden) Malaki, Katherine, Titan and NaTaurus, KC, MO, Jesse Prockish, Stockton, KS and Hayden Schnuerle (Paul Gosslin) Norton, KS; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Roger Ives and his wife Betty.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Almena, Kansas. There will be no public visitation.
