Kevin E. Heikes

May 28, 1959 — January 7, 2017

Kevin Heikes, son of Donald and Gloria (Personett) Heikes, was born on May, 28 1959 in Norton, Kansas and passed away from cancer January 7, 2017 at the good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska at the age of 57. Kevin grew up in Lenora and graduated from the Lenora High School with the class of 1977. He went on to attend Goodland Vocational School, Fort Hays State and Colby Community College with a degree in electronics and computer science. On October 6, 1990, Kevin and Beth (Smith) Cropp were united in marriage which later ended in divorce. In this marriage he had two step daughters, Cynthia Ann and Brenda Kay Cropp. Kevin did repair work on TV’s and radio systems. He owned and operatied his own computer business, Computer Remedies. He was the editor and producer of the Lenora Meridan Newsletter and also the President of the Lenora Friends of the Library along with many hours of volunteer work at the Lenora Public Library. His greatest loves were his family and friends, hunting and wildlife conservation and being a craftsman by trade. Survivors include: his parents Don and Gloria Heikes, Lenora, Kansas; uncle Dwight Heikes, Norton, Kansas; sister Neva Heikes, Salina, Kansas; brother Bryce (Cathy) Heikes, Dodge City, Kansas; niece Serina Heikes, Kansas City, Kansas; step-daughters Cindy Shirley, Norcatur, Kansas and Brenda Alberts, Axtell, Nebraska; step-granddaughter Shelbi Mckenna, Hays, Kansas. Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents; Earl and Winnie Personett; grandparents, Dick and Opal Heikes and Uncle Dennis Heikes.
