Funeral services for Keith E. Northup, age 73 of Rural Woodston, will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 at the Webster Addition of the Stockton Cemetery in Stockton with Reverend Elton Hunter officiating. Keith passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita from complications during heart surgery. He was born September 24, 1937 the son of Elvin & Amy (Glass) Northup on the Bruton Ranch property. The family later moved to the Webster area. Keith’s parents ran a grocery store, the post office, and his father taught in area schools. They moved to Woodston in 1953 when the town of Webster was moved due to the Webster Dam project. Keith graduated from Woodston High School in 1955 and attended Ft. Hays for a year. On November 30, 1957, he married Joan Kollman at the Woodston United Methodist Church. They were 6 days away from celebrating 53 years together. Keith worked at various occupations, the Rooks County State Bank, Culligan Water, John C. Jones Oil Company, and delivered freight from Denver for the ski areas on and over Loveland Pass and Berthoud Pass. The family moved back to Kansas in 1973 and he started farming with his in-laws Laura & Henry Kollman. He is survived by his wife Joan of the home; children Brian K. Northup of El Reno, Oklahoma, Anne and husband Ron Bremerman of Bennington, Kansas, John S. Northup of Clinton, Oklahoma, and Angela and husband Sherman Steeby of Wichita; sisters Daisy Orr of Hill City, Kansas, Jaunita and husband John Levin of Pine, Colorado; 5 grandchildren Jamie Nichols and husband Chase, Jessie Thomas and husband Rueben, Jake Bremerman, Lydia Steeby and Keith Steeby; and one great grandchild Cord Nichols. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law. Visitation will be from 5-8 Saturday, 9-8 Sunday, and from 9-1 Monday at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 3-5 Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stockton Medical Clinic or to the Stockton Public Library and may be sent in care of the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N.
