Kathryn B. Whitmer

Kathryn B. Whitmer, 57, of Wilson, Kansas passed away December 2, 2015 at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. She was born January 8, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Ronald and Margaret (Simpson) Hook. She grew up in Kansas City and attended area schools. She was united in marriage to Nelson E. Whitmer in Kansas City, Kansas on May 16, 1987, and she moved to Wilson. Two years later, this union was blessed with a daughter, Desirae Rose. After completing her GED, Kathy went on to become a Certified Nurse’s Aide and worked in area healthcare facilities. She enjoyed caring for others and was well known for being able to plan a party on a shoestring budget. Her hobbies include reading and working on puzzles, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Nelson, and daughter, Desirae, both of Wilson; three brother, Eddie Hook of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Ronnie Hook and Bobby Hook, both of Kansas City, Kansas; three sisters Alicia Hook of Kansas City, Kansas, Ronetta Higgins of Lucas, Kansas, and Laura Hook of Ellsworth, Kansas; two grandchildren, Donovan Proveaux and Huriyah Proveaux of Wilson; her step-mother, Hazel Hook of Kansas City, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Chucky Hook. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
