Kathryn Mae Creevan

August 2, 1930 — September 19, 2016

Kathryn Mae (Garvert) Creevan passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton, Kansas at the age of 86. She was born August 2, 1930 on the family farm near the Saline River, south of Plainville, to the late George and Lenora (Meyers) Garvert. While growing up in Rooks County, she worked to clean houses, and moved to Plainville, Kansas while still in her teens. There she continued her cleaning business eventually adding the church rectory to her regular schedule. She met Lloyd Creevan in 1954 down in Texas. On November 22, 1955 they were united in marriage at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. They later moved to Stockton, Kansas where they were blessed with three daughters, Denise, Donna, and Diane. Kathryn was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She was multi-talented; from being a fabulous cook and baker, she loved having fresh cookies waiting for the girls when they came home from school; to gardening and growing flowers, to sewing and embroidery, she was always the first one up in the morning and the last one to go to bed at night, making sure that her family had everything they needed. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton where she served with the Altar Society, Christian Mothers Fellowship, and taught CCD Classes. Always full of love and joy, she liked collecting dolls and knick-knacks, she laughed all the time, and she was the best mother and friend her girls and grandchildren could ever have. Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Denise Sasse and husband Ivan of Gaylord, Donna Eck and husband Jay of Beloit, and Diane Voss and husband Jon of Stockton; sisters, Irene Fellhoelter and husband Herman, Jr. of Plainville, and Loretta Hinca and husband Robert of Plainville; brother-in-law, Richard Werner and wife Judy of Plainville; and grandchildren, Matthew Eck, Brittany Eck, Michaela Sasse, Tristan Sasse, Scott Voss, and Shawn Voss. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lenora Garvert; husband, Lloyd; brother, Robert Garvert; and sister, Rosella Werner. For Kathryn, giving us life, striving to make things better for us than she had, and always blessing us, motivating us, steering us down the right path, and forgiving us when we made mistakes, was not a sacrifice by her measure. To us, it seemed like she sacrificed everything; but for her, it could be no other way. She did these things simply because she loved us, and we are eternally blessed and grateful. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday, September 23, 2016 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will from 2:00-8:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home in Stockton. Prayer Vigil and Rosary will be at 6:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Family will receive friends following the vigil.
