Kathleen Anne Hilgers, 76, of Meriden, Kansas passed away on July 23, 2026, at The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, Kansas.

Kathy was born on September 8, 1949 to Charles and Joann (Peck) Haslam in Great Bend, Kansas. She grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School in 1967. She attended Fort Hays State University studying dietetics and graduated from Washburn University with a general science degree.

Kathy married Randy L. Hilgers on July 20, 1969, in Plainville. She was a devoted wife, homemaker, and Randy's trusted right-hand woman throughout their life together. Kathy enjoyed a long and successful career with Southwestern Bell, where she worked for 44 years as a Service Representative Supervisor. Since 2010, she also served as the secretary and treasurer of the Hilgers Family Farm.

Kathy was a member of Sweet Adelines in Salina, Kansas, and an active member of both First Baptist Church in Plainville and Salina Christian Church. She was gifted with her hands and had a creative spirit, enjoying drawing, painting, and sewing. Kathy found joy in making beautiful things and sharing her talents with those she loved.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Randy, of Meriden, Kansas; sister-in-law, Stephanie Hart, of Plainville; sister-in-law, Stacy (Robert) Kaba Keller; nieces and nephews, Angela (Johnathan) Hilgers-Toler, Michelle Hilgers-Jones, Kyle Kilgore and Karl Kilgore; great-nieces and nephews, Donovan Krob, Ryder Jones, Crieta Kilgore, Jacob Toler and Avery Toler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Carl and Creta Hilgers; brother-in-law, Paul Hilgers; brother, Steve Haslam; two nephews, Ryan and Chad.

A Celebration of Life Service will he held 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at First Christian Church in Plainville. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Plainville Cemetery.
