June Eileen Baker was born March 8, 1930 to John E. and Gladys (Edson) O’Connor in Rooks County, Kansas. June passed away, December 28, 2011 at the Osborne County Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. June attended rural Stockton Schools and on March 7, 1946, she married George Baker in Stockton, Kansas. George preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2006. June was a member of the Alton United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and her plastic canvas’s she made for many friends in Parkview Care Center. She was a good cook, loved her church, and was especially fond of her African Violets that she raised. June had many good years camping and fishing with George. Survivors include, her son, Ronald and wife Amy of Lenexa, KS; grandson, Austin Baker of Lenexa, KS; brothers, Wilford O’Connor and wife Marlene of Hutchinson, KS, Johnny O’Connor of Weatherford, OK, and Sheldon O’Connor and wife Karen of Hoisington, KS; sisters, Phyllis Drake of Duncan, OK and Gladys Lehman and husband Allen of Smith Center, KS. Her parents; husband, George Baker; two brothers, Lawrence and Edgar O’Connor; and a sister, Leona Miller, preceded June in death. A Memorial Services is Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Alton United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Davenport officiating. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Stockton City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Parkview Care Center or Osborne County Memorial Hospital and may be sent in care of Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. First, Stockton, KS 67669.
