Judith "Judy" Kay Meier

Judith “Judy” Kay (Blase) Meier, 75, passed away on August 2, 2026, at her home in Wilson, Kansas. She was born on July 26, 1951, to Raymond and Thelma (Strecker) Blase in Ellsworth, Kansas. She married Ron Meier, and they later divorced.

Judy graduated from Sylvan Grove High School in 1969 and went on to attend Barton County Community College. Throughout her working years, she was employed as a custodian at the Wilson nursing home, worked at Abco Metal 4-Wire in Russell, and later returned to custodial work. She also occasionally worked at the Wilson Public Library. Judy was confirmed and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sylvan Grove.

Judy found joy in the simple pleasures of life and had many interests that reflected her love of the outdoors and creativity. She enjoyed photography, knitting, crocheting, and cooking. She especially loved caring for the many animals on the farm, including goats, rabbits, chickens, and countless other animals through the years. Her favorite horse, Star Fire, held a special place in her heart. Judy also loved hunting, fishing, and camping, spending many cherished years at the lake. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling, often setting out to a destination without a map and embracing wherever the journey led.

She will be remembered for her adventurous nature, hardworking spirit, love of animals, and the many memories she created with family and friends.

Judy is survived by her sons, Kendall Meier of Lorraine, KS and Raymond Meier of Clarks, NE; brothers, Louis (Carolyn) Blase of Sylvan Grove and Robert (Sheri) Blase; sister Marilynn Errebo of Wilson; four grandchildren, Kirsten Meier, Skyler Vaughan-Meier, Lane Vaughan-Meier, Mikhail Meier.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Blase; and sister, Shirley Small.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sylvan Grove.
