Juanita G. Casey

January 9, 1923 — April 7, 2015

Juanita Geneva (Jordan) Casey passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 92. She was born on January 9, 1923 in Jennings, Oklahoma to the late Edmund Earl “Doc” and Flora (Cranbrink) Jordan. Juanita graduated from Codell High School in Codell, Kansas with the Class of 1941. On November 18, 1941 she was united in marriage to James C. Casey at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville, Kansas. To this union were born four children, Judy, Jo, Dan, and Jay. Juanita raised her family on the farm near Natoma, Kansas and even worked at Travenol Laboratories in Hays, Kansas for two years. Always on the go, she enjoyed being busy or just driving around. She was a great cook, liked canning for the winters, and working cattle. She also loved watching a good basketball game. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Stitch N’ Chatter, Natoma Heritage Seekers, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A woman of abiding faith and deep love for God and family, Juanita came to appreciate the simple things in life. She loved her cats and cappuccino, but above all, she loved her grandkids. Spending time with those she loved most was the greatest joy of her life. Juanita is survived by her children Judy Casey and husband Tom Frankenfield of McPherson, Jo Tammen and husband Ron of Pawnee Rock, James Dan Casey of Russell, and Jay Casey and wife Valerie of Natoma; sister Regina Dinkel of Morland; grandchildren Kelly Tammen, Camille McCoy, Cal Tammen, Sean Casey, Allison Casey-Olson, Eastin Casey, Danica Casey, and Regan Casey; and great-grandchildren Cade McCoy, Megan McCoy, Jenna Tammen, Cooper Tammen, Kyler Tammen, Alyssa Casey, Matthew Casey, Sean Casey, James Casey, Jacob Olson, Caleb Olson, and Noell Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents Edmund and Flora Jordan, husband James Casey, brothers Clayton Lucas and Harold Jordan, sister Jessie Youtsey, and an infant brother. Juanita leaves a legacy of hard work, love, and devotion. She will live forever in the hearts and memories of her friends and family for generations to come. Indeed her children rise up and call her blessed. Reception: Knights of Columbus Hall
