Joy Jane Sutor passed away Tuesday evening, May 13, 2014 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville at the age of 91. She was born November 8, 1922 to Albert and Maude (Powers) Jennings in Simla, Colorado. Joy graduated from Palco High School with the class of 1940 and went on to attend college for one year. She was united in marriage to Darrell Earl Sutor on May 14, 1943 in Plainville, Kansas. They were blessed with three daughters, Linda, Darla, & Lorna. Joy was a hard working farm wife who balanced discipline and love, sternness and softness, with her own family as well as many others. She loved everyone and was a mother to them all. She always had a good meal for anyone who stopped by and kept in close contact with friends and neighbors alike. She was always there for her girls, and often knew what was happening with them before they could even get home. Joy was a woman of deep faith and an active member of the Palco United Methodist Church. God, family, and friends were the most important things in her life. She was a leader in 4-H, E.H.U., and wife of an R.E.A. member. For Joy, being involved in the lives of her children and community was how she put her faith and love into words and actions. Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Darrell; daughters, Linda Sutor of Smolan, Darla Moore and husband Charlie of Scott City, and Lorna Sutor-Pelton of Palco; sister, Jarvine Felderman of Palco; 6 grandchildren, Jessica Hall (Kelly), Heather Renier (Dan), Dana Pieper (David), Kevin Moore, Shellie Collins (Colby), Chan Pelton (Amanda); 10 great-grandchildren, Brandy and Emily Hall, Cody and Cady Pieper, Lauryn, Nathan, and Kristyn Renier, Kamdyn Moore, and Cierra and Claire Collins; and one great-great-grandson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Maude Jennings; Foster-Son, John Martin; sister, Alberta Stull; brother-in-laws, Max Stull and Clive Felderman. Joy was a rock and an inspiration to all who knew her. The Scriptures remind us that these three remain: faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. Joy leaves us with as legacy of strong faith, abiding hope, and deep love, for indeed she loved greatly and was greatly loved.
