Joseph “Joe” Gerald Hageman, 34, passed away on February 22, 2026, at his home in Zurich, Kansas surrounded by his family and cat, Nermal.
Joe was born on September 8, 1991, in Hays, Kansas to Gerald “Jerry” and Nancy (Benoit) Hageman. He grew up in Plainville, Kansas, and graduated from Plainville High School in 2010. On September 20, 2014, he married Rebecca Heroneme on their family farm in Zurich, beginning a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.
Joe was employed as a Lead Draftsman and 3D Print Specialist at Wellhead Systems in Hill City, Kansas. He took great pride in his career, earning his CDL and completing coursework in computer drafting. Joe loved what he did and was known for his dedication, skill, and innovative spirit.
Above all, Joe cherished his family, especially his role as a father. He found his greatest joy in being “Dad” to Holton Joseph and Joselyn LeeAnn. He loved his car and took great pride in it, along with tinkering on projects and working around the farm. A strong supporter of his community, Joe contributed to organizations that assist children with autism as well as local fire departments and law enforcement. He proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with the Palco Fire Department, embodying his commitment to helping others. Joe will be remembered for his generous heart, steady work ethic, quick smile, and the deep love he had for his family and community.
Joe is survived by his parents, Jerry and Nancy Hageman of Plainville; his loving wife, Rebecca Hageman and his children, Holton Joseph and Joselyn LeeAnn Hageman, all of the home in Zurich. He is also survived by his sisters, Amber Hageman and her son Charlie of Plainville, and Heather Hageman and her son Braydon of Hays, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Helen (Giebler) Hageman; his maternal grandmother, Annette (Brin) Benoit; his maternal uncle, Joseph “Joe” Benoit; and his aunt, Peggy Diane Benoit.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rebecca Hageman for his children’s education and may be sent to Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd St, Plainville, KS 67663.
