Johnny Frank Stahl passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at his home in Zurich, Kansas at the age of 74. He was born on June 6, 1941 at St. Anthony Hospital in Hays, Kansas to the late Raymond and Euline (Hrabe) Stahl. He grew up, went to school, lived and worked in Rooks County, Kansas until 1959 when he moved to Omaha, Nebraska to work for the Omaha Fire Department and to attend technical school where he learned his trade in auto body repair and mechanics. Johnny was married, divorced, and had six children. In 1979 he moved back to Kansas and opened a body shop in Plainville. After retiring he went to work helping Dave Basgall at the Da Mar Tranco transmission shop in Plainville. Whether he was racing them, working on them, tinkering with them, or just out for a drive in the country, Johnny’s passion was cars. Even after retirement, being around cars gave him a sense of pride, joy, and accomplishment. Johnny is survived by his wife Sandra Malone Stahl of the home in Zurich; his son Joey Stahl of Fort Dodge, IA; daughters Helen Wiesner of Houston, TX, Mary Kay Hill of Washington, D.C., Marlena L. Dinkel of Plainville, and Tammy K. Bonde of Crescent, IA; fifteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Euline Stahl. A private family service is planned for a later date. Condolences may be left for the family at www.plumeroverlease.com
