John Lee Thompson was born December 24, 1964 to Cecil Leslie and Mary Ruth (Adams) Thompson in Polson, Montana. He passed away Sunday morning, July 8, 2012 in Rooks County Medical Center at the age of 47. John was united in marriage to Mindie Cooper in 1995. They have lived in Plainville since 1996 moving from Arkansas. They are blessed with a daughter Ashley. John worked in the oil field as a roughneck for many years. John was an avid outdoorsman. He would either be bow hunting for his trophy deer or fishing when time would allow. John was very handy at fixing vehicles and would work on several in Plainville for folks. Those left to mourn John’s passing are his mother and step-father, Mary Ruth and Glen Cain; wife Mindie of the home; daughter Ashley Ulmer of Hays, KS; foster daughter Autumn Maskrid and foster son Donald Maskrid of Plainville, KS; brothers Scott Thompson and wife Marie of Plainville, KS, and Michael Thompson and wife Becky of Russell, KS; sisters Lori Bailey of Houston, TX, and Beth Durling of Vineland, N.J.; and grandchild Adam Ulmer. Preceding John in death are his father Cecil Thompson; grandparents George & Flora Thompson; uncle Bill Thompson; and aunts Frieda Sparks and Leah Graham. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Plainville with Pastor Daryl Sherraden officiating. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date. There will be no visitation, the family has chosen cremation. Memorials are suggested to the John Thompson Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville, KS 67663.
