Joan Mcintyre

July 18, 1946 — November 6, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joan McIntyre, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on November 6, 2024, at the age of 78.


Born July 18, 1946, Joan brought light and joy into the world with her warm smile and unwavering kindness. She grew up and raised her family in Plainville, KS, and carried the values of compassion and resilience throughout her life. Joan touched many lives with her nurturing spirit, whether through her career in the United States Postal Service or her role as the heart of her family.


Joan had a passion for gardening and reading, and she will always be remembered for her helpful nature, her love of baking, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome.


She is survived by her husband, Jeff McIntyre of Florence, AZ, her sisters, Vicky (Jack) Ashbaugh of Hill City, KS and Patricia (Alvin) Mills-Harbert of Warr Acres, OK, and her brothers, Lonnie (Kathy) Wise of Russell, KS and Fred (Val) Wise of Cheney, KS.


Joan’s legacy of love and generosity will be carried on by her sons, John (Shauna) McIntyre of Los Altos, CA, and David McIntyre of Phoenix, AZ. She was a proud grandmother to Mia and Emma McIntyre of Los Altos, CA, and Jacob, Nathan, and Caleb McIntyre of Phoenix, AZ, and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.


Joan is now reunited with her parents, Norman and Ietta Wise, and her brother Rex of Plainville, KS, who welcomed her into eternal rest.


Joan’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her love and light remain a beacon for us all.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be held on December 7, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the First Christian Church, 301 S Broadway St, Plainville, KS.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Redbud Village and may be sent to Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd, Plainville, KS 67663.
