Robert J. “Jim” Zeigler of Hill City, formerly of Codell, went home to be with his Lord on October 20, 2011. Jim passed away at the Graham County Hospital at the age of 89. Jim was born July 15, 1922 in Hays, Kansas the son of Robert and Millie (McCord) Zeigler. Jim was a member of the Codell School Board, Plainville Recreation Commission, and Township Board for several years. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Codell, he served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and on a number of boards. He taught the high school and adult Sunday school classes, filled the pulpit and gave many children’s sermons through the years. Jim married Genevieve Nelson on August 15, 1951 at the Codell Baptist Church parsonage. They were blessed with three children: Nelson Kirk, Tamra, and Doran. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Millie (McCord) Zeigler; Genevieve (Nelson) Zeigler, wife of 56 years; son Nelson Kirk Zeigler; brother Keith Zeigler and wife Louise, brother Elmo Zeigler and wife Millie; sister-in-law Ernestine Zeigler, and brother-in-laws Teve Davenport and Glenn “Buck” Keas. He is survived by his daughter Tamra Bowman and husband Mike of Olathe, Kansas; son Doran Zeigler and wife Shayla of Hill City, Kansas; grandchildren John Bowman, Lexi Biel and husband Jordan, Morgan Nutting and husband Marcus, Mark Bowman, Zoey Zeigler, Lynzee Zeigler and great granddaughter Paesyn Biel; brother Wade Zeigler of Ottawa, Kansas; sister-in-laws Geraldine Davenport of San Antonio, Texas, and Gennette Keas of Plainville, Kansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. During the past year at Dawson Place in Hill City, he enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family and friends, reminiscing and laughing about so many happy memories. He will be missed greatly, but we know he is now safe and comfortable in the arms of his savior Jesus Christ and that brings untold joy and peace to our hearts. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Codell with Reverend Troy Buss and Reverend Chuck Pyle officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery near Codell. Visitation will be from 5-8 Saturday, and 9-8 Sunday at the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel with the family receiving friends from 6–8 Sunday evening. The family suggests memorial gifts to the First Baptist Church of Codell, to the Kansas Dialysis Association, or to Dawson Place and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S.
