Jerry Lee Rowe

Jerry Lee Rowe passed away in Lamar, Colorado on November 29, 2021, at the age of 83. He was born on May 25, 1938, to Buford and Vera (Darbyshire) Rowe in Lamar, Colorado. Jerry was united in marriage to Elzana (Thielen) Rowe on September 16, 1969, in St. Michaels, Arizona at the Navajo Reservation. The couple raised three children: Craig, Edward, and Aaron. Jerry grew up in Lamar and graduated from Lamar High School in 1956. A few short months after graduating high school, Jerry went into the United States Navy. He served for 13 years during the Vietnam war, first as a Seabee and later a Corpsman for the Seal team. After his honorable discharge he married Elzana, and they lived on the Navajo Reservation. He worked as an Optician and taught the natives how to make their own glasses. The couple moved to Chicago, Illinois and stayed there for 13 years until moving to Washington, and then in 2006, they moved to Dorrance. Jerry retired when he moved to Kansas and enjoyed his time fishing, hunting, working on his 60 ft. garden, and woodworking. Jerry enjoyed staying busy, working hard, and getting things done as soon as they needed to be done. He was fun loving and enjoyed life with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Elzana Rowe of the home; children, Craig Rowe of Dorrance, KS, Edward Rowe of Dorrance, KS, and Aaron Rowe of Terre Haute, IN; siblings, Barbara McGee of Lamar, CO, and Harry (Helen) Rowe of Walsh, CO; and three grandchildren, Kylie Rowe, Gage Bean, and Cash Rowe. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Vera Rowe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, at 10:30 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dorrance, Kansas. There will be no visitation. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Jerry Rowe Memorial fund to help with funeral expenses.
