Jean Marie Steeples Webb passed away November 12, 2012 at Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton, KS, at the age of 85. She was born in Hays, Kansas September 25, 1927 to William Wallace Steeples and Marie (Kobler) Steeples. Jean grew up in Holton, Kansas. She graduated from Holton High School and went on to college at Fort Hays State University. After graduating from Fort Hays State, she taught school in Great Bend, Kansas, where she met Thomas Boyd Webb. They were married August 2, 1953. They lived in Great Bend, KS, Duncan, OK, Perryton, TX, Oklahoma City, OK, and Tulsa, OK, where they both retired from Atlantic Richfield Oil Company. Jean was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, AAUW, and the Hays Presbyterian Church. While at Fort Hays State she played flute in the Fort Hays Symphonic Orchestra. She also sang in various church choirs over the years. Jean enjoyed reading, playing the piano and shopping, usually for gifts for the many nieces and nephews to whom she was like a second grandmother. She and Boyd made many trips to visit family and could always be counted on to be there for special occasions. They also traveled abroad to places such as Switzerland and Germany where she found additions to her music box collection. She is survived by her sister, Lois and husband Bob Settles of Palm Coast, FL; brothers Don and wife Tammy Steeples of Lawrence, KS, and Dave and wife Joanne Steeples of Stockton, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Boyd Webb, and sister Jo and husband Glen Haslett.
