Janice “ Jan” Louise Budig was born in Plainvile, Kansas on March 17, 1953, to Viola (Dreiling) Budig and Arthur A. Budig. She died December 17, 2012, in Salina, Kansas, at the age of 59. Janice attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Plainville and graduated in 1971. She celebrated her 40th class reunion in 2011 with 17 other classmates. Janice was united in marriage to Pete Hobson in 1973. They made their home in Hays, Kansas, where Janice had been working for Travenol Laboratories since she finished high school. To this union two sons were born, Bradley Joe on May 25, 1974 and Brett Matthew on Sept. 17, 1975. Janice and her sons moved to Woodward, Oklahoma and later relocated to Oklahoma City where they resided for many years before Janice returned to her home state of Kansas, residing in Salina. Janice loved her sons and granddaughters very much. She truly valued her family. A kind-hearted woman, Janice would put anyone's well-being before her own. She always enjoyed water. As a child, she loved to swim and never outgrew her love for the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and many other outdoor activities. Get-togethers with her family and friends meant the world to her. She never forgot a birthday and loved Christmas time. She adored her two dogs, Scoobie and Tabby, and they loved her just as much. Janice is survived by her son, Brett and wife Heather of Springfield, MO; three granddaughters, Caitlyn, Sara and Amanda; her father Arthur A. Budig and wife Noreen, of Woodward, OK; brothers, Jack Budig, Vernon Budig, David Budig and wife Hattie, Douglas Budig, and Robert Budig and wife Laurie; sisters, Sharon Arnhold and Kathy Bullard and husband Brandon; step-son, Chuck Hobson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, several dear friends and her two little dogs. Janice is preceded in death by her son, Bradley on April 22, 2001; her mother, Viola Budig in 1996; brother Nick in 1966; sister Eleanor in 1972; brother Arthur in 1995; special niece Tish Marie Budig in 2006; and her little chihuahua, Kizzy, in 2011.
