James Lewis Davis of Studley, Kansas passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the Sheridan County Health Complex, in Hoxie, Kansas at the age of 56. He was born November 21, 1958 in Hoxie, Kansas to Richard “Dick” and Opal (Goodrow) Davis. James grew up in Hoxie and attended both the grade school and the high school. He held various jobs but for over thirty years he worked as a craftsman and welder. James taught himself to work on computers and whenever a friend or family member had one down he was always happy to be their “go to” guy. James loved the outdoors and especially hunting and fishing. Back in the day, he enjoyed taking his nephews out for a good hunt. Always a quiet man, James lived in Sheridan County his entire life. Although he often kept to himself, he had a true and abiding love for his family and those closest to him, most especially his nieces and nephews. Never asking for anything he couldn’t get for himself, his greatest joy was simply spending time with those he cared about the most. James is survived by his sister, Sandy Kirschenman and husband Clyde of Studley, Kansas; two nephews, R.J. Martin of Hoxie, Kansas and Scott Martin of Scott City, Kansas; two nieces Rhae Martin of Denver, Colorado and Sara Price and husband Steve of Salina, Kansas; three Great-Nieces and four Great-Nephews; and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. James was preceded in death by his parents Richard “Dick” and Opal Davis and a sister Suzy K. Davis. A quiet simple man, James was humble of heart and gentle of spirit. The writer Oscar Wilde once said, “Life is not complex. We are complex. Life is simple, and the simple thing is the right thing.”
