James “Jim” David Cooper, formerly of Plainville, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton, Kansas at the age of 66, after a courageous three year battle with cancer. James was born in Phillipsburg on June 26, 1946, to Earl and Viola (Arment) Cooper. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School and later graduated from NCK Vo-tech after completing the heavy equipment program. James was married to Susan Hrabe December 30, 1967 at the Methodist Church in Plainville. He worked for the Rooks County Highway Department for 43 years. James was a good handyman. He fixed all his own things. He loved to fish and sleep which he was able to do a lot of when he retired. Survivors include his wife Susan of Plainville; daughters, Mistie Cooper of Kansas City, MO and Mindie Cooper of Hays; sister Earlyne (Thomas) Hearld of Plainville; 4 grandchildren, Amber Cooper, Ashley Ulmer, Donald Maskrid and Autumn Maskrid; and 1 great-grandson Adam Maskrid. James was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Viola; infant sister Teala; an infant brother; and son-in-law John Thompson.
