Jack Edward Manis, Jr.

Jack Edward Manis, Jr. passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at Osborne Memorial Hospital after a brief two month stay at Parkview Memory care in Osborne, Kansas. He was born on October 13, 1944 in Austin, Texas to the late Jack Edward, Sr. and Clarice (Isaacks) Manis. On October 6, 1993 he was united in marriage to Caroline Walker in Dodge City, Kansas. Jack was a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force for which he served 22 years. Jack served as Mayor of Woodston, Kansas. He enjoyed working on cars, and had a special love of Mustangs. He liked to travel and spend time outside, hunting, fishing, and working in the garden and yard. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW Post #8873 of Stockton, the United Methodist Church in Woodston, and the Assembly of God Church in Stockton. Jack and Caroline celebrated 23 years of marriage in 2016. Jack is survived by his wife Caroline Manis of their home in Woodston; son Mark Manis and wife Connie of Stockton; daughter Jacque Hartley and husband David of Wichita; step-son Brad Lynch and wife Marla of Woodston; step-daughter Connie Manis of Stockton; grandchildren Michael Manis, Kassi Myers, Brad Lynch, Jr., Dyllan Lynch, and Colton Pfeifer; and great-grandchildren Eythun Wyatt, and Davyn Willieford. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack, Sr. and Clarice Manis, granddaughter Lindsey Pfeifer, and great-granddaughter Chloe Wyatt. Long after his service to his country, Jack continued to live his life with integrity first, service to others before himself, and striving for excellence in all that he did. The legacy he leaves behind will carry on for generations to come, and his love will live forever in our hearts, in our minds, and in our lives. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton. Inurnment will follow in the Woodston Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N 1st Street, Stockton, KS 67669.
