Jack D. Gilbert

Jack D. Gilbert passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 76. He was born in Rooks County, Kansas September 24, 1936 to Roy J. and Molly M. (Burger) Gilbert. Jack grew up in Rooks County and graduated from Plainville High School with the class of 1954. Jack spent his life working as a heavy equipment operator for Rooks County, the City of Stockton and retired after 30 years with the City of Plainville. Jack married Linda Post on October 2, 1971 in Plainville, Kansas at the First Baptist Church. They were blessed with a son, Darren Gilbert. Darren preceded Jack in death on October 10, 1993. Jack was a hard worker. He enjoyed traveling to the mountains in Colorado with Linda and Darren. He also enjoyed woodworking and country music. Jack was a quiet man, and wonderful father and husband, with a tender heart. Left to cherish Jack’s memory is his wife Linda of the home; sister-in-law Connie Gilbert of Parsons; brother-in-law Charles Eberle of Norton; father-in-law Doyle Post of Plainville; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews Preceding Jack in death are his parents Roy and Molly Gilbert; son Darren Gilbert; brothers, Marvin, Hilton and Arden Gilbert; and sister Luella Eberle.
