Irene (Knudson) Rodman passed away in Plainville, Kansas, on July 1, 2016 at the age of 86. She was born in Highmore South, Dakota on February 19, 1930. She was the oldest of four children to Theodore and Dorothy (Mercer) Knudson. She moved with her family to Vaughn, Washington in 1937 where the family farmed. Irene graduated from Peninsula High School in 1948 and then attended Seattle Pacific College for one year. Irene married LeRoy (Bud) Rodman on September 3rd, 1954 and lived in the Port Orchard, Washington area for many years. She worked in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for a few years as a secretary. She was a great mom to her two children, Stephen and Gail. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and camping. After retirement, Irene and Bud travelled around the United States for over 17 years in support of the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program, providing various assistance and repairs to Christian churches and camps. In 2005 they settled in Hays, Kansas. Irene loved Jesus her Savior and was very involved in church activities over the years. She enjoyed serving others and encouraged them through her letter writing and cards. She was very proud of her seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Irene is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Bud of Stockton; son Stephen of Mount Wolf, PA; daughter Gail Gallaway of Stockton; and brother Curt of Gig Harbor, WA. A woman of deep faith, Irene touched, and helped to shape, the physical and spiritual lives of family, friends, and people around the world through her tireless example of love, devotion, and care. Her love of God, love of people, and love of life will leave a legacy that will carry on for generations to come. A legacy only the Lord knows the full impact of, but we will carry in our own hearts and lives forever. Private family graveside service will be held at Stockton Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Saturday July 9th. A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton Kansas with food and fellowship following (approx.. 12:00 PM) at Main St. Christian Church, also in Stockton. In-lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to North Oak Community Church in Hays, KS or Lutheran Braille and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N.
