Ida Mae Casper

Ida Mae Casper passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the Wheatland Nursing Home in Russell at the age of 88. She was born on October 12, 1931 to David and Lydia (Mikulecky) Galliart in Wilson, Kansas. She was raised in Wilson and graduated from Wilson High School with the class of 1949. Following her graduation she was united in marriage on August 20, 1949 to Elmer Casper at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wilson. Ida spent much of life as a homemaker, raising children and helping Elmer on their farm. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wilson and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church ladies’ quilting group in Lucas. She enjoyed those times spent with her friends quilting, playing cards, shopping, and just visiting. Ida also enjoyed her gardening, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Casper of Russell; son, Gerald (Kathy) Casper of Hays; daughter, Trina (Leon) Feil of Russell, KS; brothers, Ed (Janie) Galliart of Wilson, KS, Leo Galliart of Halstead, KS, and Clarence Galliart of Halstead, KS; three grandchildren, Richard Casper, Christopher (Jennifer) Casper, and Scott (Amy) Casper; five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Nathan, Kayle, Logan, and Ashleigh; and one great-great-grandchild, Addison. She is preceded in death by her parents, David and Lydia Galliart; brother, Dave Galliart, and Sister, Frances Glendening. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020 starting at 11:00 AM, at the Wilson City Cemetery in Wilson. A visitation will be held at Plumer Overlease Funeral Home in Wilson on Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family receiving friends from 2PM to 3:30PM. A second visitation will be at the Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM prior to service time on Monday, March 16, 2020.
