Harold Francis Eilers passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at Rooks County Health Center at the age of 79, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born August 20, 1934 to Herman T. Sr. and Inez (Shubert) Eilers on the river in Grandma Shubert’s stone house in rural Ellis County, Kansas. Harold graduated from Plainville High School with the class of 1952 where he participated in team sports and FFA. His love for sports continued throughout his life and was passed on to his children and grandchildren. “Sic Em Bears!” He had seven children, David, Debra, Darla, Frances, Criscenda, Melissa and Scott. Harold was the S.E. Regional Supervisor for Texaco Pipeline Company and retired after 25 years of loyal service. He enjoyed every aspect of retirement including hunting, “working” on the farm or patrolling the streets of Plainville. He also spent quite a bit of his time traveling to visit family and friends. Spending time in the company of his loved ones took precedence over everything else and brought him great joy. Harold is survived by his son Scott Eilers and wife Erin of Udall; daughters Darla Jones and husband Terry of Plainville, Frances Williams of Goldsboro, NC, Criscenda Kirksey and husband Terry of Spring, TX, and Melissa Reed and husband Michael of Stockton; daughter-in-law Valerie Eilers; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman T., Sr. and Inez Eilers; son David M. Eilers; daughter Debra Silvertooth; brothers George “Georgie” Eilers and Herman T. Eilers, Jr.; and sister Charlotte Nelson. Harold was a caring and dedicated father as well as a loyal friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Shaped by the difficult times following the Great Depression, Harold still inspires us to work hard, earn our own way, and take care of those closest to us.
