Gregory Lynn Meyers

February 28, 1949 — December 11, 2024

Gregory “Greg” Lynn Meyers, of Plainville, Kansas, passed away on December 11, 2024, at Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, at the age of 75. He was born on February 28, 1949, to William Bill and Freeda Anora (Casey) Meyers in Hays, Kansas. He was married in 1971 to Brenda Turnbull.

Greg grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School in 1967. He was one of the original 100 employees to Schult Mobile Homes in Plainville. Greg was a self-employed electrician who worked in the oil fields, as well as a pump shop repairman for Northwestern Supply Company, Axelson Inc, and Crawford Supply Co. Later, he worked for Crawford Supply as a Traeger Grill salesman.

A passionate teacher at heart, Greg had a special love for sharing his expertise in the fine art of grilling. A true grill master, he found joy in sharing his secrets of perfecting BBQ, leaving a legacy of delicious meals and shared memories with countless friends and family. Greg also had an innate talent for fixing anything and was the family’s go-to fixer. No matter the task – big or small – he was always willing to lend a hand, offering his dependable and resourceful presence.

As a devoted dad, Greg imparted invaluable life lessons to his son, teaching him how to hunt, fish, play catch, fix things, and, of course, grill. As a father-in-law, he loved Chris, Tanya, and Nic as his own, unconditionally. He was always an unbiased and understanding listener, someone family and friends could turn to for support and wise advice.

A man with many interests, Greg had a love for golf, baseball, muscle cars, and racing. His love for these hobbies was only matched by his love for music, and Greg could often be found singing along to his favorite tunes, especially in the car. His zest for life extended to a love for big celebrations where he was the life of the party and always made everyone laugh and feel welcome.

Greg cherished spending time with his kids and grandkids, whether at family gatherings or simply sitting around, telling jokes and sharing laughter. He was always there with an open ear, a kind word, and a big smile. He loved attending all the sporting events and was a constant presence in the stands cheering them on, Gatorade in hand, and pride in his heart.

Greg's passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to live on through the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the memories that will forever be treasured.

Greg is survived by his children, Jacqueline Renee (Chris) Wehrli of Frisco, Texas, Quentin (Tanya) Meyers of Plainville, and Racquel Kristine (Nic) Proctor of Olathe, Kansas; siblings, William Dwight Meyers of Overland Park, Kansas, LaVivian Drake of Overland Park, Kansas, James Leon Meyers of Reno, Nevada, Michael (Lina) Dee Meyers of Bakersfield, California, and Sonja Jean (Leroy) McMullen of Great Bend, Kansas; 7 grandchildren, Brenton, Hunter, Rakiyah, Savannah, Reagan, Crispin, Nash; and one great-granddaughter, Keelie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; nieces, Michelle Roth and Melanie Redman; brother-in-law, John Drake; and sisters-in-law, Alma Meyers and Rosemary Meyers.
