Greg Marquess

Plainville resident Gregory W. Marquess, age 55, of Plainville passed away Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born August 23, 1954 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky the son of James A. “Buck” and Maglene (Dunn) Marquess. Mr. Marquess was a United States Army veteran for 11 years serving during the Vietnam War. He was a sniper for the army and toured all over the country in contests for shooting. Greg enjoyed fishing, reading, and spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He set up and repaired mobile homes and worked construction. On July 8, 1982 he married Susan Spellman in Littlerock, Arkansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his daughters Hollie Marquess of Plainville, Andee Marquess of Plainville; mother Maglene “Maggie” Marquess of Jeffersonville, Indiana; brothers Mike and wife Nancy Marquess of Phoenix, Arizona, Tim Marquess of Jeffersonville Indiana, Barry Marquess of Florida; sister Lisa Marquess of Jeffersonville, Indiana; and 2 grandchildren Corbyn Marquess and Owen Bailey. He was preceded in death by his father in 1995 and a sister Elizabeth Marquess. Cremation is planned and a memorial service will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greg Marquess Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville, Kansas 67663.
