William Gordon Pettijohn passed away November 14, 2012 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 90. He was born August 1, 1922 in Alcona Township, Rooks County, Kansas to Lowell Pettijohn and Elsie Mae Cook. Gordon graduated from Webster High School with the class of 1941. He was united in marriage to Anna Jane Foley September 26, 1948 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton, Kansas. To this union two children were born: William L. “Bill” and Sharon M. He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Swinging Wheel Square Dancing Club, Webster School Board and past Board Member of the Coop. Gordon was very active in giving blood to the American Red Cross and was a thrift shop volunteer. He was proud of serving his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He spent his life farming and ranching and was a dedicated man to his family. Left to cherish Gordon’s memory are his wife Anna Jane; son William L. "Bill" and wife Judy of Beloit, Kansas; daughter Sharon M. Pettijohn of Stockton; 2 Granddaughters, Alison Samuel and husband Jeremy and Amy Dougan and husband Matt; niece Patricia Robinson Morgan and husband Rusty; and nephew Charles Robinson and wife Susan. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, brother Cecil Pettijohn, sister Mary Jo Robinson and her husband Wilbur, and nephew Greg Robinson.
