Glenda A. Post

July 24, 1934 — October 23, 2015

Glenda A. Post passed away October 23, 2015 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 81. She was born July 24, 1934 to Oren L. and Lola M. (Westhusin) McCune in Rooks County, Kansas. Glenda attended school in Codell and graduated from Codell Rural High School with the Class of 1952. She was united in marriage to Emery Leroy Post on June 26, 1954 at the Codell Baptist Church. They were blessed with two children, Rita and Tracy “Butch.” Glenda worked for the City of Plainville as a secretary and clerk for many years. She enjoyed camping in the mountains as well as at area lakes and of course spending each October in Branson, Missouri. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Plainville and also attended Community Christian Church in Apache Junction, Arizona. Glenda and Emery were members of the SwingNWheels Square Dance Club for many years. They traveled to conventions and other clubs where they met and made many lifelong friends. After retirement they spent their winters in Arizona where they enjoyed the Superstition Mountains. She loved playing cards, especially Pitch and Pinochle and always appreciated the warm weather and friends she made. Glenda is survived by daughter, Rita Mendenhall and husband Rick of Garden City; son, Tracy “Butch” Post and wife Lois of Plainville; brothers-in-law, Doyle Post of Plainville, Edson Post and wife Madonna of Wichita, Delmar Post of Scott City, and Chuck Post and wife Patti of Concordia; sister-in-law Lucille Post of Great Bend; grandchildren Travis Mendenhall, Tori Crow, Heidi Zizz, and Renee Meiar; and great-grandchildren Alexis, Rebecca, Curtis, Jaret, Grant, Madison, Kavin, Brecklyn, Cambria, and Logan. She was preceded in death by her husband Emery, parents Oren and Lola McCune, infant brother Billie Ervin, and brother, DeLaine “Sam” McCune. Glenda always delighted in time spent seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren especially after Emery passed. A wife, mother, and grandmother of noble character, she was a woman of strength and dignity along with love and patience. She was greatly blessed and leaves us with a legacy of even greater blessings that will remain with us forever. A Celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Plainville. Inurnment will follow in the Plainville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church Building Fund or Plainville Fire Department and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd, Plainville, KS 67663.
