Gertrude Nell (Dubus) Miller passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 at her home in Palco, Kansas at the age of 92. She was born on October 6, 1922 in Tampico, Mexico to the late Chester and Florence (Harvey) Dubus. She graduated from McPherson High School in McPherson, Kansas with the Class of 1940 and went on to graduate in 1944 from Fort Hays State College in Hays, Kansas. On September 24, 1943 Gertrude was united in marriage to Harold Raymond Miller in McPherson. They were blessed with five children, Rick, Cliff, Linda, Judy, and Dena. She loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker. Raising her family she was always involved with their activities including numerous sports, Cub Scouts, 4-H, and many others. Gertrude enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and square dancing. While attending college she worked for the Greenhouse on campus and later volunteered time working for the Palco Public Library. She was a strong supporter of the Palco Lions Club, a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. A true patriot, she supported the Wounded Warriors Project and had a special place in her heart for all of the men and women who served their country in the armed forces. Family, friends, neighbors, church, and community were the things Gertrude loved the most. She loved being around the people who knew and loved her as well. The greatest blessings in her life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Gertrude is survived by her sons Raymond “Rick” Chester Miller and wife Boua of Monmouth, IL, and Clifford Dean Miller and wife Lina of Hays; daughters Linda Lee Robinson of Lyndon, Judy Kay Mohr and husband Gary of Indianapolis, IN, and Dena Jo Barclay of Mountain Home, ID; brother Arthur “AD” Dubus and wife Kathy of Denver, CO; grandchildren James Donald “JD” Robinson, Dianna Hutchcraft, Michael Mohr, Marla Moss, Nina Mohr, Shawn Failor, Michael Mehrer, Shannon Wyatt, Jacqueline Rios, Darrin Desbien, Dawn Renee Rush, Sheena Marie Miller, and Shelly Lynn Gasper; and great-grandchildren Colton, Josye, Nathan, Joshua, Jacob, Anthony, Alexis, Tyler, Hanna, Madelyn, Cate, Corbin, Grace, Cody, Logan, and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Florence Dubus, husband Harold Raymond Miller, brothers Jules Frederick Dubus and Herbert Bascon Dubus, and sister Constance Florence Petrey. Gertrude was a woman of strong faith, abiding hope, and deep love. She lived her life as an inspiring example of doing what was right, loving mercy, and walking humbly with her Lord. Her life and legacy will live forever in the hearts and lives of the generations that follow until we all meet again in heavenly glory.
