Geraldine Rita Klein

Geraldine Rita (Plante) Klein passed away on November 22, 2023, at her home in Damar, KS, at the age of 76. She was born on August 23, 1947, to Edward Joseph and Adele Rosalie (Senesac) Plante in Hays, KS.

Geraldine attended grade school and three years of high school in Damar and then graduated from Palco High School in 1968. She worked at Buck Grill in Hill City from 1969-1980 as a cook. She then moved back to Palco to help take care of her father who was ill and worked for Pat and Robert Kern from 1980-1983. On June 4, 1983, Geraldine married Henry Klein. Geraldine and Henry were foster parents for several years and babysat for others. After Henry passed away in 2000, Geraldine continued to babysit and loved being with people and kids. She made the best iced tea, was a parent to many, and fed a lot of the Palco kids over the years. Always ready for a conversation, she would always say, “Tell me what you know. I know nothing. What’s new?”

Geraldine was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar.

She is survived by a host of cousins; and special families, Brandon and Lindsey Hamel and kids, Rylan, Weston, and Layton of Plainville and Butch and Traci Hamel and kids, Kendrix and Ryker of Hays, KS.

Preceding Geraldine in death are her parents; husband, Henry Klein; brother, George Plante; and special family friend, Averyn Hamel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 10:30AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar with inurnment following in the church cemetery.
