Geraldine M. Karns

Geraldine Mary Anne Karns was born August 31, 1930 to John and Martha (Adam) Hake in Tipton, Kansas. She passed away Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Redbud Village in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 81. She attended local Tipton schools and graduated from Plainville High School with the class of 1948. She received her registered nursing degree and worked as a nurse in various local hospitals. She was united in marriage to James Karns on August 30, 1958 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. She was a devoted mother to her family. She enjoyed many days with her grandchildren loving and spoiling them. She had many passions to include bowling, crocheting, her jigsaw puzzles, yahtzee, especially the games of bingo, and any other game she could play with the family or friends. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving husband Jim of fifty three years; her daughters, Michelle Karns of Bakersfield, California, Maria Simon and husband Stan of Plainville, Marianne Dix of Plainville, Martha Blair and husband Don of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Melissa Brack and husband Larry of Hill City, Kansas; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Erickson of Plainville and Mary Lee Berland and husband Dean of Grand Junction, Colorado; and brother, Raymond Hake and wife Mary Ellen of Conroe, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha Hake; ten brothers and sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with father Joshua Werth officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a Parish Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart School or Redbud Village and may be sent in care of Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S.
