Remembering… George Michael Bueche passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Trego Manor in WaKeeney, Kansas at the age of 90. He was born March 3, 1924 in Clawson, Michigan to George Valentine and Matilda (Sutter) Bueche. George grew up in Detroit, Michigan. On April 12, 1958 he was united in marriage to Marie “Jean” Kaiser. They were blessed with two children, Patricia and Kenneth. George served in the United States Navy as a Carpenter’s Mate during WWII. He served aboard the USS Philadelphia, the USS Vinton, and the USS Tranquility earning 5 commendations from his commanding officers. Following his service in the Navy, he went to work as a Union Finish Carpenter in the Detroit area until moving his family to Palco, Kansas. George had a variety of hobbies, interests, and activities. As a young man he enjoyed taking his family to amusement parks and fairs, and he and Jean always loved a good waltz. He was a master woodworking craftsman, building everything from shelves to wagons to rocking chairs and much more. George also had a passion for photography much to the chagrin of Jean, who often scowled at his camera. Always a kid at heart, he stocked his refrigerator with candy, Little Debbie snack cakes, and soda pop. George was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar, and later the St. Nicholas Catholic Church of Hays. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of the VFW Post #9076 and the DAV Fort Hays Chapter #18. George is survived by his son Kenneth Bueche and wife Brenda of Friendswood, TX; daughter Pat Ferland and husband Dale of Zurich; sister Rosie Culbertson and husband Ray of Sterling Heights, MI; grandchildren Joshua Ferland, Jaime Dodder, Nichole Kimmel, Carly Ferland, Michelle Gastler, Heather Bueche, Cheryl Bueche, and Kate Bueche; and great-grandchildren Jarah Dodder, and Jett Dodder. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Matilda Bueche, wife Jean Bueche, and brothers Clarence and Vern Bueche. George lived every day of his life as a gift. Swimming at Fort Hays, morning coffee at McDonalds, and lunch at Wal-Mart were just a few of his daily routines. The people of those places came to expect him and even became his friends. But amongst the routine of life, George had a love for his family, and most especially his grandchildren, that was anything but routine, and brought him great pride and joy. He will be greatly missed because he was so greatly loved. Reception: Knights of Columbus Hall
