Mass of Christian Burial for Gary L. Fisher, age 63, of Bland, Missouri, formerly of the Palco area, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with Father Galen Long as Celebrant. Mr. Fisher passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born August 24, 1948 the son of Alfred and Georgine (Jacobs) Fisher. He graduated from Palco High School and worked in the oilfield as a driller, tool pusher and later as a drilling superintendent. Gary enjoyed gardening, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. On August 17, 1968 he married Connie Desair in Zurich, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his parents Alfred and Georgine Fisher of Palco, Kansas; daughters Trisha O’Dell and fiance Dave Gorrick of Bland, Missouri, Tory Benedick of Plainville; sons Troy and wife Jenny Fisher of Spearville, Kansas, Todd and wife Kari Fisher of Belle, Missouri, Tyler Fisher of Belle, Missouri; Brother Fred Fisher of Plainville; sisters June Mongeau of Plainville, Kansas, Melba Hammerschmidt of Plainville, Kansas, Connie Keller of Zurich, Kansas, Jean Larson of Russell, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and his faithful companion, his dog Stormy. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery near Palco, Kansas. Visitation will be from noon – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Plainville. A Rosary will be recited at 3:00- p.m. Tuesday afternoon by the St. Ann’s Sodality at the chapel. A Parish Vigil Service will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville, Kansas 67663.
