Frances Lucille (Knouf) Stithem passed away January 6, 2012 at the Logan County Hospital, Oakley. Frances was born September 26, 1923 to Henry and Myrtle (Cunningham) Knouf in Hill City. She was united in marriage to Albert C. “Bud” Stithem on July 25, 1941. They began their marriage in Moreland and later moved to Zurich in 1943. In 1980, they moved to Plainville. To this union were born two daughters, Erma Alberta and Charlotte Lucille. Frances dedicated her life as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, playing cards, going to garage sales and most of all spending time with her family and friends. She also had an infinite love of animals and provided a loving home to many over the years. She was a stay-at-home wife until the mid-1980’s when she took at position with the Plainville Laundromat. She accepted a position with the Pony Express in the mid-1990’s and traveled many miles around the Plainville/Hill City area. She enjoyed people and always had a quick smile or word of encouragement for anyone she met. Her witty sense of humor and loving ways will be missed by many. Survivors include: her daughter, Erma Sander and husband Marvin, of Oakley, her grandson Mitchell Graham Jr. and great-granddaughter Annastacia, of Maize; her granddaughter Melissa Pinero and husband Trent, great-grandson Trent II and great-granddaughter Olivia, of Panama City Beach, FL; her grandson Mark Graham and wife Melissa, great-granddaughter Abigail and great-grandson Kaden, of Prairie View. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert, her son-in-law Mitchell Graham Sr., of Grainfield, and her daughter Charlotte Stithem, of Hutchinson. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 14 at 2 p.m. at Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, Plainville. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Palco. Visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, Plainville, KS.
