Florence “Flossie” Vohs passed away Monday, January 28, 2013, at her home in rural Plainville, Kansas at the age of 79. She was born in Ellis, Kansas November 14, 1933 to Edgar and Ruth Ann Ruhaak. Flossie graduated from Plainville High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to Donald G. Vohs August 11, 1952 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. To this union 7 children were born: Leonard, Larry, Mike, John, Ann, Donna and Shelly. Flossie worked in the Dietary Department at the hospital before receiving her LPN Degree in 1991. She was very proud of putting herself through college. She worked for the hospital and the nursing home in Plainville until her passing. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Ladies Guild and for 59 years the Daughters of Isabella. Flossie was very proud of her grandchildren, especially her three grandsons getting their Eagle Scout Merit Badges. She loved her pigs and helping on the farm. She also loved bowling, which she did for many years, scratch tickets, crossword puzzles, mowing, and going to the casino when she could. Flossie loved her family and was always doing for others. Left to cherish Flossie’s memory are her sons Leonard Vohs of Florence, Montana, Larry Vohs (Stephanie) of Plainville, Mike Vohs of Hays and John Vohs of Plainville; daughters Ann Smith (Gavon) of Valley Center, Donna Magwire (Dan) of Sharon Springs and Shelly Dougherty of Plainville; brother Jim Ruhaak (Arlene) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 14 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren. Preceding Flossie in death are her parents Edgar and Ruth and her husband Donald. Reception: Knights of Columbus Hall
