Everett A. Lowry, age 61, of Stockton passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at this home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Stockton with Reverend Steve Slate officiating. He was born September 13, 1949 the son of Walter V. and Mabel A. (McCormick) Lowry. He graduated from Stockton High School and served his country in the United State Army, serving two tours during the Viet Nam War. Everett was a truck driver, attended the Assembly of God Church, and was a life member of the Monroe-Taylor-Barnes VFW Post 8873. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. On August 1, 1971, he married Rebecca Melton in Woodston. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his daughters Monica of Stockton, Shannon and husband Aaron Glendening of McPherson, Savannah Lowry of Manhattan; sons James Lowry and his girlfriend Jessica Rupp of Hays, Walter Lowry and his girlfriend Erin Miller of Stockton; brother Harold and wife Lyla Lowry of Stockton; sisters MariLynn VanTyson of Raytown, Missouri, BuAnna Phillips of Saginaw, Texas; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Wayne. Burial will be in the Stockton Cemetery with military honors provided by the Monroe-Taylor-Barnes VFW Post 8873. Visitation will be from 9-8 Wednesday at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home and from 11:30 to service time Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rooks County Cancer Council, the Stockton Assembly of God Church, or the Monroe-Taylor-Barnes VFW Post #8873 and may be sent in care of the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N.
