Evelyn Mae King passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Redbud Village in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 100. Evelyn was born July 26, 1912 to Edward and Clara (Gibson) Lickey. She was united in marriage to Jess W. King in 1935 in Wichita, Kansas. Evelyn was a member of the Plainville First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and Order of the Eastern Star where she was the matron. Evelyn enjoyed quilting and would quilt with the women’s group at the church. She is survived by a son Merle Jephson-King and wife Robyn; 3 grandchildren, Sheryl King, Les Beckham, and Christi Beckham; 2 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Clara; husband Jess; son Clayton; brothers, Alf, Howard, Ernest and Everett; and sisters, Doris, Mildred and Velma.
