Eleanora L. Wilson passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at Hays medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 86. She was born on April 4, 1929 in Russell, Kansas to the late Howard George and Grace (Yeagy) Meredith. She graduated from Plainville High School in Plainville, Kansas with the Class of 1947, the same year she was crowned Booster Queen of PHS. In 1949 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” F. Wilson in Plainville. They were blessed with two children, Rick and Susan. Whether at home taking care of her family, or at work taking care of her friends and neighbors, Eleanora enjoyed serving others and helping them in any way she could. A member of the United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, and working at Plainville State Bank for 31 years, she was known as someone who could be trusted and counted on. With great attention to detail and quality, she always greeted people with her smiling face and warm and caring personality. An avid outdoors woman, Eleanora loved vegetable and flower gardening, as well as camping and fishing. Having fished and camped from California to Georgia and several states in between, and even Hawaii, she never passed up an opportunity for travel and adventure. Being with family and friends was always the most important, but having fun made it even better. Eleanora is survived by her husband Bill Wilson of their home in Plainville; son Rick Wilson of Manhattan Beach, CA; daughter Susan Holt and husband David of Iron Station, NC; brother Donald Meredith and wife Dixie of Webb City, MO; sister Eva Mae Pratt of Jefferson City, MO; and grandchildren Briana, Devin, and Sean Holt. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Grace Meredith, and brother Lyle Meredith. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister Eleanora lived every day with loyal devotion to her duties and responsibilities to God, her family, and her community. Her heart of grace, charity, and service will continue to impact the lives of those she knew for generations to come. Whether reaching out a hand to help another, or maintaining strength and courage in the face of her own struggles, she was indeed the “fairest among thousands, altogether lovely.” A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Plainville. Burial will follow in the Plainville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or Order of the Eastern Star and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd Street, Plainville, KS 67663.
