Remembering… Edna Mae Stice passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 85. She was born on May 29, 1929 to Leo and Abigail Beatrice (Green) Tipton in Flint, Michigan. In her teens the family moved to Zurich, Ks to the Tipton farm and soon after moved to Stockton, Ks where her parents owned and operated Tip's Cafe. Edna was united in marriage to Harold Stice on February 1, 1947 in Smith Center, Kansas. They were blessed with three children, Diana, Gregory, and Rhonda. Their first home was the Stice farm West of Stockton, moving to Stockton in 1959 and later to Hays, Kansas in 1970. Edna was a hard working selfless woman. She worked on the farm, was a housewife and mother, and while in Stockton, owned and operated Maylaine's Fashions with her sister-in-law, Donna. She later worked at Ann's Dress Shop in Hays and assisted with Shorty's real-estate business. Shorty and Edna made Kansas City their home in the early 80's until Shorty's death. Edna returned to Stockton at that time. In Edna's lifetime she enjoyed cooking, knitting, skiing, golfing, social groups, time with family and school events, including Greg's athletic events at Stockton High School and Washburn University. In later years, she and Shorty traveled to Saudi Arabi twice to visit Rhonda and her family. Edna and Shorty also enjoyed many friendships in the area. Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Al-Otaibi and husband Saad of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; son, Greg Stice and wife Carol of Tonto Basin, Arizona; sisters, Merna Poore of Stockton and Pat Hansen and husband Wally of Goodland; 6 grandchildren, Corey Stice, Angela Stice-Ruiz, Sami, Nabil, Sara, & Nora Al-Otaibi; and 5 great grandchildren. Edna had the true heart of a servant. She was greatly loved because she loved us so greatly. Although we will miss her we rejoice with the angels in heaven as she now hears the voice of her Lord say, "Well done good and faithful servant. Enter into your Father's rest."
