Edgar Bobby “Bob” Cheek passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 77. He was born on July 2, 1940 at the family home in Ewing, Virginia to the late Lee Roy and Hazel (Hatfield) Cheek. He grew up in the Ewing area and was a graduate of Thomas Walker High School. Bob took seriously the command of Jesus, “To love the Lord your God, and love your neighbor as yourself.” A good friend, he was more concerned about others than he was himself, and was always looking in on, and taking care of, his neighbors. He was a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church in Stockton, Kansas, and loved to travel, especially to go and spend time with family. Survivors include his brothers Donald Cheek and wife Debbie of Ewing, VA and Arthur Cheek and wife Narstine of London, KY; sister Elizabeth Tiller and husband Steve of Ewing, VA; children Sandra Diane, Jeanette Palestrina, Sherry Kay, Melissa Gail, Robert “Bobby”, Kimberly Dawn and Katherine “Cissy” Diane; and several grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents Lee Roy and Hazel Cheek; sisters Betty Robbins, Francis McCurry, and Goldie Hahn; brothers Larry Cheek, and Charles Cheek; and infant brother “Little Lee Roy”. Bob was the epitome of the Good Samaritan. Never knowing a stranger, he did what he could to help those in need that crossed his path in life. Today he rests from his labors, a good and faithful servant. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Assembly of God Church in Stockton, KS with Pastor Kurt Coleman officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Assembly of God Church and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. 1st Street, Stockton, KS 67669.
