Doris M. Gilbert

Doris M. Gilbert passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Redbud Village in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 97. Doris was born October 4, 1915 in Plainville, Kansas to Wallace and Mae (Cronin) Phillips. She attended elementary school in Natoma and Tipton and graduated from Plainville High School in 1935. Doris married Harlan Gilbert on September 10, 1935. Doris was very much involved in her church and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Sacred Heart Guild. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and working with children, but what Doris loved the most was being a homemaker and raising her 7 children. Left to cherish Doris’ memory are her children, Robert “Bob” Gilbert and wife Jody of Plainville, Kansas, Harry Gilbert and wife Mary of Houston, Texas, Carl Gilbert of Waverly, Tennessee, Dennis Gilbert and wife Cindy of Phoenix, Arizona, Chris Gilbert of Plainville, Kansas, Pat Bogard and husband Jim of Nashville, Tennessee, and Anita Wilson and husband Doug of Joelton, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Gladys Allen of Plainville, Kansas. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Mae; her husband, Harlan; and brother, Harry Phillips.
