Mass of Christian Burial for Donald E. Wilkerson, age 81, of Plainville will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with Father Galen Long as Celebrant. Mr. Wilkerson passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville. He was born October 24, 1930 in Gorham, Kansas the son of Earl and Adelaide (Hertlein) Wilkerson. Don worked for Phillips Petroleum as a Field Supervisor for many years before retiring on July 1, 1986. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council # 1857 in Plainville. Don served in the Marine Corps in the Korean War. Don enjoyed playing cards, camping at Webster and Wilson Lakes, and taking care of his lawn. On November 27, 1954, he married Ann Feuerborn in Wichita, Kansas. She passed away May 3, 2009. Survivors include his daughters Mary Lang and husband Duane of Hays, Geri Stahl and companion Justin Russ of Plainville, Sharon and husband Pete Waggoner of Plainville; sons Joe of Catherine, Kansas, Donald and wife Wendy of San Diego, California, Dave of Plainville; brothers Larry of Plainville, Jim of Zurich; sisters Charlene Jones of Plainville, Linda Robben of Oakland, California; 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, and 7 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann, sons Tom and Ken; grandson Shane Wilkerson, brother Gary; sister Joyce Graves; and step granddaughter Jolana Darnell. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors provided by the Reeder-Dinkel-Westhusin VFW post #8871. Visitation will be from 9-8 Tuesday at the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel. A Ladies Guild Rosary will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the chapel. A Parish Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening also at the funeral chapel followed by a Knight of Columbus Rosary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rooks County Health Center, the Redbud Village, or to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S.
