Donald Sr. Thomas

Funeral services for Donald G. Thomas, Sr. age 71, of Plainville will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Plainville with Pastor Todd Bohrer officiating. Mr. Thomas passed away Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville. He was born May 15, 1939 in Hays the son of Richard L. and Beulah L. (Mead) Thomas. He graduated from Palco High School in 1957. He enjoyed deer hunting, and attending auctions. Mr. Thomas served his country in the United States Army from 1961 – 1967 serving in France, Germany, and Viet Nam. He farmed in the Plainville area for most of his life. On February 14, 1975 he married Dora Twiford in Plainville. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his sons Donald G. Jr. and wife Mical Thomas of Lincoln, Nebraska, James and wife Cori Thomas of Emporia, Kansas, Joseph Thomas of Plainville; daughter Roxie Thomas of Hutchinson; sister Doris Rue of Hutchinson; grandchildren Ashley, Alexis, Caleb, Peyton, and Randie. He was preceded in death by his parents. Burial with military honors provided by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard will be in the Plainville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 Sunday at the our chapel and from 11:30 a.m. to service time Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rooks County Health Center and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville, Kansas 67663.
