Donald E. Balthazor passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on Friday, March 16, 2018 at his home in Anthony, Kansas at the age of 64. He was born on October 19, 1953 in Hays, Kanas to Jerome J. and Illa Jean (Cokeley) Balthazor. After graduating high school he went on to attend North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit, Kansas for two years where he earned an associate’s degree in boilermaker mechanics. Don was a true motorcycle fanatic and car nut. He loved working on motorcycles as much as riding them, and thoroughly enjoyed turning wrenches on cars and drag racing. He worked in the boilermaker industry as a repairman and foreman. He was also up for a good game of cards whenever friends and family got together. Don is survived by his mother Illa Jean Balthazor of Plainville; longtime girlfriend and partner of 19 years Jeana “Jake” Niethamer of the home in Anthony; brothers Ronald F. Balthazor and wife Ann of Lexington, NE, and Marty Balthazor of Plainville; and sister Gloria Linville and husband Steve of Ponca City, OK. He was preceded in death by his father Jerome Balthazor; sister-in-law Jody Balthazor. The Apostle Paul said, “Let us throw off everything that hinders, and run with perseverance, the race marked out for us.” Don was a man who lived life at full throttle and enjoyed the ride with family, friends, and loved ones. Never one to go slow and easy, he beat us to the finish line, but we look forward to rejoining him one day when we all get together in the winner’s circle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00pm on Tuesday at the funeral home with Vigil Service at 7:00pm.
