Funeral services for Donald W. LaRue will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Stockton with Reverend Les Ellis officiating. Mr. LaRue passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at his home in Stockton. He was born January 4, 1947 in Hays, Kansas the son of Ray L. and Abbie M. (Bass) LaRue. He graduated from Kirwin High School and graduated with a B.S. degree from Ft. Hays University in education. Don taught 5th grade his entire career at USD #271 in Stockton. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his grandkids. On August 8, 2006 he married Bonnie Towns in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his daughters Shannon & husband Jon Kettler of Topeka, Kansas, Tami & husband Kelly Knedler of Dodge City, Kansas; son Tad LaRue of Dodge City, Kansas; step daughters Mindy & husband Jason Jones of Norton, Kansas, Tara & husband Steve Vance of Norton, Kansas; step son Brandon & wife Brandi Towns of Olathe, Kansas; brother Martin & wife Darlene LaRue of Jennings, Kansas; sister Abbie Jean & husband Virgil Henry of Kirwin, Kansas; 4 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ray LaRue, and sister Wanda Fisher. Cremation is planned. Inurnment will be in the Stockton Cemetery. Friends may sign the register book and watch the dvd from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Hay Medical Center Home Health & Hospice or Tammy Walker Cancer Center of Salina and may be sent in care of the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. First, Stockton, Kansas 67669. Condolences may be sent to the family on our send your condolences link.
