Don Brin

April 4, 1920 — December 6, 2011

Don D. Brin was born April 4, 1920 in Goodland, Kansas to Hubert and Nora (Bedard) Brin. He passed away Tuesday evening, December 6, 2011 in Rooks County Health Center at Plainville, Kansas at the age of 91. Don lived with his grandfather from the age of 9 until he was united in marriage to Elaine Roberts in Zurich, Kansas and enlisted in the Army. Don was in WWII and was there on D-Day at Normandy. Don was very proud of his service for our country. Don was injured in the war twice. He received the silverstar and a purple heart with clusters. After returning from the war Don farmed with Elaine for a few years until his injuries from the war did not allow him to continue. Don then worked in the oil fields as a pumper for many years until retiring. Don enjoyed Woodworking, gardening, and his flowers, which he knew them all by name. Don loved his family. Don was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Plainville, Kansas. Survivors include his wife Elaine of the home; four sons, Mac Brin of Pratt, KS, Larry Brin and wife Paula of Hutchinson, KS, Ron Brin and wife Linda of Plainville, KS, and Mark Brin and wife Jill of Monahans, TX; two daughters, Carol Fellhoelter and husband Lee of Plainville, KS and Pat Ruder and husband, Dave of Canon City, CO; one brother, Terry Kaba of Draper, UT; one sister, Louise Bolt of Enid, OK; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial for Donald will be Friday, December 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with Father Galen Long as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Fort Riley. Visitation will be from 9am through 8pm Thursday at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel. A Parish Vigil Service will be at 8:15 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart School and may be sent in care of Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S.
