Dolores Emerick

Dolores R. Emerick, 84, of Hoxie, Kansas passed away at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas on Sunday, October 18, 2015. She was born May 28, 1931 near St. Peter in rural Sheridan County, Kansas to Herbert and Loretta (Denning) Sanders. She attended rural grade schools including the Beehive School, and graduated from Quinter High School with the Class of 1949. On September 19, 1949 Dolores married Donald G. Emerick at Sacred Heart Church, Park, Kansas. She was a homemaker, nurse’s aide, school cafeteria cook, and bookkeeper for the family business. Dolores was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Hoxie, the church Altar Society and the Scrappy Quilters Guild. She is survived by her husband Don of Hoxie; sons David Emerick and wife Joanne of Hoxie, and Doug Emerick and wife Pam of Plainville, Kansas; daughters Diana Emerick of Colby, Kansas and Darlene Emerick of Bailey, Colorado; sisters Celeste (Moris) Herl, Irma (Leonard) Herl, and Dinah Werth of Hays, Kansas, and Elsie Loevenstein of Quinter, Kansas; grandchildren Tanner Emerick and Jessica Emerick; step grandchildren Julie Selbe, Michael Selbe and Stacy Nussebaum ; step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother James.
