Diego Armando Gallaway

May 5, 1992 — February 27, 2019

Diego Armando Gallaway passed away Feb. 27, 2019 in Hays, Kansas at the age of 26. He was born May 5, 1992 in Santo Domingo, Ecuador. In September 1999 Diego and Carlos flew into Kansas City to begin a new life in Kansas with Ron & Gail, brothers Aaron & Andrew, and sisters Andrea & Alissa. Diego was a young boy full of energy and on the go. He learned English and adapted very quickly to his new environment. He and Carlos added many new adventures to the family. We have many good memories with Diego, teaching him about this new land, taking trips to Oregon to meet grandparents and other family, and exploring the Oregon coast. In the Spring of 2003 Diego realized his need for a savior. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was later baptized. Diego loved sports: football, basketball, track, cross country, and his favorite, wrestling. His aggressive nature and determination helped him have much success with wrestling for the Stockton Wrestling Club and Stockton schools. He went to state one year in high school. He also enjoyed hunting, especially turkey. He quickly picked up the art of calling and understanding their response. He enjoyed many successful hunts. Diego worked several jobs after high school. He enjoyed construction work with Kuhlmann Construction as well as welding for his latest employer, Hess Services. Diego was a loving daddy and proud father of his two little girls Hallie Ava, 3, and Kamyah Agnes, 7 ½ months old. Diego is survived by his daughters Hallie and Kamyah Gallaway; parents Ron & Gail Gallaway of Stockton; grandfather LeRoy (Bud) Rodman of Stockton; siblings, Carlos Gallaway of Hays, Aaron Gallaway of Hillsboro, Andrew Gallaway and wife April of Ranier, OR, Andrea Cheveallier and husband Christian of Newberg, OR, and Alissa Mauk and husband David of Lindsborg; and numerous other relatives. Diego is preceded in death by his grandparents Irene Rodman and Paul and Evelyn Gallaway; and sister-in-law Brittney Gallaway. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 1:00 P.M. at the Main Street Christian Church in Stockton. There will be no public visitation. A private family interment will be held at the Stockton Cemetery. In Liew of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Hallie & Kamyah Gallaway Memorial Fund or Stockton Wrestling Club and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. 1st, Stockton, KS 67669.
